Meet Us
Hill House Wine Consulting was founded in 2014 when two wine professionals from opposite sides of the world, Anne Forrest and Andy Hill, met whilst working in Porto and the Douro Valley in Portugal. In 2015 they bought and began renovating Hill House, now their office, in the beautiful city of Porto where they are still based. Now married, Anne and Andy are joint owners of Hill House Wine Consulting.
Andy Hill
Our head winemaker, globetrotting native of Hawkes Bay, New Zealand and Pinot Noir lover.
Andy has worked in every aspect of wine production since beginning his career in the vineyards of Hawkes Bay over 20 years ago.
Learning from the best in some of New Zealand’s top wineries, he then moved to Oregon to make ultra-premium Pinot Noir and has also worked in Australia, France, Portugal and Italy.
From running some of the largest wineries in Australia crushing 80 tons of grapes every 15 minutes to foot treading Port in the ancient stone lagares of the Douro Valley, you name it, Andy’s done it!
Anne Hill
General Manager and responsible for Sales and Marketing, English by birth but she probably speaks your language!
Anne is a natural linguist and collector of great food and wine experiences.
She has lived and worked in the UK, Italy, Spain, France and Portugal, beginning her career in the world of wine tourism and moving through wine sales into global wine buying at Laithwaite’s Wine, a position she held for 8 years.
Anne is a Senior Judge at International Wine Challenge and also on the Portuguese panel for Decanter Magazine. Her greatest joy is working with talented small producers with little export experience to help them gain recognition and build sustainable sales in new markets.
